What Are Competent Person Training Classes

Competent person training classes equip students with the knowledge and skills to identify, evaluate, and manage safety hazards on construction sites in specific areas such as excavation, confined spaces, fall protection, and scaffolding. These courses cover OSHA construction standards and teach participants how to recognize potential dangers, select appropriate protective systems, and ensure compliance with safety requirements. Upon completion, students are prepared to perform safety-related duties as competent persons in their specialized areas, with certifications accepted in all states and US territories.

Excavation and Confined Space Training Coverage

The Excavation Safety Competent Person training covers OSHA excavation standards including underground utilities, surface encumbrances, job-site equipment, hazardous atmospheres, and soil testing and classification, plus selecting and installing cave-in protective systems. The Confined Space Competent Person training covers OSHA confined spaces in construction standards, teaching students to identify and evaluate permit-required confined spaces and the entry and emergency procedures necessary for safe entry operations at construction sites.
